Glacier Divide Backpack – Lamarck Col

For a while, I had been looking at Lamarck Col as a way to make a loop around the Glacier Divide. On some maps, it is shown as a trail. On others, the route is absent. After some online research, I found that there is enough of a route to take friends on this class 1+ route. Having this route made for a short loop alternative to the more popular South Lake / North Lake loop that people do over Bishop Pass. Since it was a group trip, I didn’t have the time to write narrative captions on each photo. My favorite part of the route was definitely the Darwin Bench, which surprised me with its beauty. I hope you enjoy the photos, even in the absence of the typical storytelling.

This is the map for the entire route discussed in this post.  To Export GPX files, click on the three horizontal bars in the upper right hand corner of the map and select Export selected map data... To see full screen, click here (opens in new window)
