10/07/2023 Bikepacking Spain Day 60 : Its the Water

Photos:

Early morning start, pushing our bikes up the route in the dark. Last night, I heard a pig in the bushes right around here and it scared the crap out of me (until I decided it was a pig and not a snorting human - and then I went to try and see it). —

It’s called the cave of the virgin, and there might as well have been choirs of angels singing. It was definitely worth the very steep push to get up here! Felt heavenly, and I was sad when we had to leave. —

It’s difficult to imagine the scope of this cut in the rock; I tried with photos… but yeah, doesn’t exactly capture it. —

Off to the badlands next… —

Short video compilation of some stuff we saw today. —

Janet said, “let’s do an ussie!” —

We had a nice “vía verde” (rail trail) to take us into town. It is still hot (but cooling a couple degrees soon). I think the heat has been harder on Janet than usual. We decided to take another rest day. Bike touring with so much exposure to the elements is hard on the body, no doubt. Bugs, heat, lack of showers… she has put up with a lot! 🐛 🐜 🥵 🌡️ 🚿

It’s the water !

Fascinating! All of it, it's just so darn beautiful and amazing. That tower built on the crest of the arete, remarkable.

Love the video and the music you chose for it. You and Janet look like you’re on summer break from college in your usie!

Brian Lucido thanks for the tour of the Sierra Mágina! Now we’ve explored this beautiful part of Spain twice - now on to the Sierra Nevada!

Thank you for the drone footage. Nice piloting. Glad you are able to enjoy a rest day before the Sierras.
