Trift Bridge Route

The Trift bridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Alps. Because the Trift Glacier had been retreating, it was no longer possible for hikers to reach the huts in the mountains above. As such, the Swiss engineered a bridge that would span this spectacular chasm. The bridge itself became a tourist attraction.

It is possible to take a gondola up to see the bridge – but you will still have to walk above the drop-off point in order to reach the bridge. The signs at the gondola station estimate 90 minutes for this walk, but if you’re fit, you can reach the bridge from the parking lot in that time. This will save you the cost of the gondola, as well as taking you past some pretty terrain (including some waterfalls).
